CT3066: Enhancing Visitor Interaction at Sepah Bank
On the morning of the 7th of Esfand, we received a call from one of the specialists at the Procurement Department of Sepah Bank. They mentioned that the Welfare and Health Affairs Department of Sepah Bank needed to purchase two Counter intercom systems.
Initially, they did not specify the final layout where the devices would be used. They only mentioned that they needed Cavac counter microphones for the reception of the personnel health booklet issuance section. Since quality was their top priority, we recommended the CT3066 Counter intercom system model.
An Unconventional Installation Challenge
After completing the financial and administrative procedures, we realized the Cavac Counter intercom system would not be used in a standard, routine setup. The specialists’ primary duty was to receive visitors, cancel old booklets, and issue new ones. The infrastructure was such that visitors would first receive a number from a queueing system and then enter a room surrounded by desks, without a classic counter setup.
The specialists in the room had to shout the names loudly enough for the voice to carry through the relatively crowded hallway. This prompted the consideration of using Cavac Counter intercom systems to bridge this communication gap.
Technical Solutions and Setup
A minor installation challenge arose: there was no proper conduit for routing the cable, especially for the military-grade connector used to connect the secondary unit to the main unit in the CT3066 model. This issue was resolved with the help of a skilled facilities staff member.
Since there was no need for two-way verbal communication and the system was intended to function as a pager to call visitors, the secondary units were installed in a relatively unusual layout above the doors and next to the hallway stone facade.
Fortunately, with the capability to deactivate the secondary unit microphone (muting the internal speaker of the main unit), there was no concern that the noise from waiting visitors in the hallway would be amplified inside the room.
Other Versatile Uses of Counter Intercom Systems
Other unconventional uses of the Cavac Counter intercom system include communication with patients in medical imaging centers such as MRI, CT scan, and X-ray departments. In many of these centers, devices either lack audio communication capability or their equipment is broken.
Counter intercom systems have repeatedly been used by radiology operators to issue instructions such as “hold your breath” or “stay still.” I plan to cover these specialized applications in more detail in future posts.
