Cavac Counter Intercom systems at Social Security

Safe and Clear Two-Way Audio

The Social Security Organization, and particularly its insurance branches, as one of the main providers of insurance services across the country, are among the most important clients and users of Cavac Counter intercom systems.

Recognized as one of the busiest organizations in Iran, the Social Security Organization receives a large number of visitors daily. In various departments, such as the Inspection Unit, Revenue Unit, or the Insured Records Unit, protective glass usually separates staff from visitors. However, this layout is not standardized across all Social Security branches. Depending on each branch manager's decision, the reception area may or may not be equipped with protective glass between staff and visitors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many branches realized the importance of using protective barriers in reception areas. Initially, they installed plastic sheets to separate staff from visitors. Over time, as the quarantine period extended and concerns arose about the plastic sheets themselves becoming sources of environmental contamination, permanent glass panels gradually replaced the temporary barriers.

Despite the numerous health and security benefits of having protective glass between staff and visitors, it can create difficulties in verbal communication. This is where the Cavac Counter intercom system, available in various models, becomes the ideal solution for seamless two-way communication.

What is a Cavac Counter Intercom System?

The Cavac Counter intercom system is a hardware product consisting of three main components:

Main Unit:

Installed at the staff’s desk, it controls all device functions, ensuring that only the staff can adjust internal and external audio levels or power the device on/off. The visitor has no control over these settings.

Customer Unit (Secondary Unit):

Usually attached firmly to the glass using 3M double-sided tape, it transmits the staff’s voice to the visitor and, through its built-in microphone, amplifies the visitor’s voice for the staff.

Switching Adapter:

Provides 12V direct current power to operate the system.

How to Install the Cavac Counter Intercom System

Installation of this Cavac product line is simple and straightforward, requiring only awareness of the visitor’s position on the other side of the glass. For example, does the visitor sit or stand? Is a chair provided? The answers determine the proper height for installing the customer unit on the glass.

It is recommended to install the customer unit approximately 15–20 cm below the predicted average height of the visitor’s mouth. Most people, when waiting at the glass for a response, lean slightly forward and downward. Installing the unit slightly below the mouth ensures optimal reception of the visitor’s voice.
